Consultation

Drs. Sheppard & Thieneman are Certified Group Psychotherapists (CGP’s) with extensive expertise in group therapy. We offer ongoing consultation on many aspects of group therapy. Let us help you bring life to your groups! We are knowledgeable about the foundations of evidence-based group therapy, and enjoy sharing our knowledge and experience with others.

Tony L. Sheppard, Psy.D., CGP, FAGPA

Tony is a frequent presenter at the Kentucky Psychological Association and American Group Psychotherapy Association meetings and is available to present to groups of all sizes. Dr. Sheppard brings knowledge, experience and humor to all his presentations. He has a passion for helping to promote mental health and to reduce stigma around mental health topics.

Tony has trained with some of the top group therapists in the country and the world! He has taught in a variety of settings on numerous topics. Settings in which he has taught include Fortune 500 Companies, Schools, Hospitals, Outpatient Community Mental Health Clinics, Private Practices, Churches, Community Centers, Colleges & Universities, Residential Facilities, and College Counseling Centers.

He offers ongoing consultation in group psychotherapy and has taught and helped individuals and practices to improve their group therapy offerings and outcomes. His book Group Psychotherapy with Children was published by The American Group Psychotherapy Association in 2008.

Zachary J. Thieneman, Psy.D., CGP

Zack is a much sought-after speaker in the Louisville area. He brings knowledge, experience and humor to all of his relational and audience-centered presentations. Zack completed his dissertation on evidence-based teaching and draws from a large body of teaching knowledge to thoughtfully design and prepare presentations based on the needs and wants of the participants. He takes this preparation very seriously! 

Zack has presented locally and nationally about his areas of expertise including a webinar for Operation: Parent; presentations for Walden School, JCPS schools, School Choice Scholarships, and St. Margaret Mary among other Louisville schools, churches, and organizations; panel events representing NAMI Louisville where Zack is a board member; professional presentations for mental health agencies such as the Behavioral Wellness Clinic; three consecutive years of presentations at the American Group Psychotherapy Association national convention (AGPA Connect); and even a guest talk on a radio show out of Detroit called The Nooner Show

Zack offers consultation related to building group practices and mindfulness. Groupworks maintains nine on-going groups and focuses on group therapy as a primary modality for treatment of anxiety, depression, and other common mental health challenges. Starting a group can be a daunting task-  Zack uses his experience in starting and maintaining successful groups to help other practices create and maintain their own groups. 

Mindfulness is rapidly becoming a successful tool that schools and workplaces are using to help students and workers alike develop coping practices for their routine days. Zack would love to speak with you about how to integrate mindfulness into your school, classroom, or workplace to build compassion, resilience, and focus!

Jacquelyn Love, Psy.D.

Dr. Love has presented at the local and regional level including the annual symposium of the National Alliance for Grieving Children, the Pacific Northwest Conference on Childhood Grief, and the annual conference for the Kentucky Psychological Association. In addition, she has provided numerous trainings and presentations for local organizations and businesses on the following topics:

Jacquelyn brings knowledge, experience, and compassion to all her presentations. She is recognized for her ability to make psychology accessible and enjoyable for all audiences by applying empirical data to real-life strategies and engaging activities. In her role as bereavement counselor with hospices in Kentucky and Oregon, she provided training for diverse audiences including nurses, physicians, social workers, chaplains, community volunteers, teachers and school personnel, and the community at-large. 

Jacquelyn offers consultation for organizations and community groups seeking to improve or services for grieving children, teens, and adults.
